Scaru ristorantino fish&wine

We were 4 together and wanted something good for lunch. We got different food, but the fish was fresh, the food tasted great and the service was very good. We all liked the atmosphere and definatly we will be back.

We had a delicious meal and wonderful time here, our first dinner in Porticello. The host was very helpful in reviewing the menu with us, as our Italian is not the best. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the activity near the port. We shared the shrimp fettucine, penne chicken, grilled vegetables, wine, and bread, followed by lemoncello! All of the staff were very kind and helpful. Grazie Senor Scaru!

On the occasion of our eldest son’s 40th Birthday we were privileged to return to Sicily and travel with Nicky to the ancestral hometowns of my grandparents. Here we are in Porticello where the Balestrieri’s and Alioto’s sailed their fishing boats. We show up at Scaru for a late lunch, we are greeted warmly by the owner, who asks if this is our first visit to Sicily. I explained that we had visited about seven years ago but this time I brought a photo of my grandfather Michele Balestrieri (seen in two of the photos). When I mentioned his name, the owner raised an eyebrow, said “aspeta” and went inside the restaurant to call his wife Rosamaria to come meet us. In the photos, you can see her and her father, Gaetano Balistreri. The conversation got lively immediately, lunch was amazing, the wine list superb, and the entire experience was nothing short of amazing thanks to our hosts. Highly recommend Scaru for its exceptional food and its warm and attentive owners. Amazing!

Great place, good service we had fresh fish "catch of the day" which was great. Staff is very accommodating and nice.

As a Sicilian living abroad, I can absolutely tell you. The food served in this restaurant is sublime, I must admit. I am a returning customer, however… 3 of us spent €87 and €20 was added in service and cover charge. By law, coperto has to be mentioned. It isn’t, and for that you lose a star, which I feel guilty about.
